Working with Wasatch Accounting

How do we work remotely with you?

We are based in Northern Utah, but we work with business owners all over the U.S. We have a secure portal system for document sharing, utilize cloud based solutions and schedule meetings virtually as well. Geography is not a barrier to working with us!

What accounting software do I need?

We will work with all accounting softwares. However, we do primarily work in QuickBooks. We are experts in both QuickBooks Desktop versions and QuickBooks Online. In order to support remote work, your software selection must be cloud based or have a cloud based hosting solution for your desktop software.

I don’t need access to the software. Can you just keep my books for me?

Yes! We work with QuickBooks Desktop and can maintain your file on site. If you ever choose to leave Wasatch Accounting or outgrow us, a copy of the file will be provided for you to take with you.

Will I still need an in-house accounting staff?

No! If you choose to utilize Wasatch Accounting as your full service accounting solution provider, you will not need to have any other accounting staff. We will however need someone in the business designated as the liaison, available to upload needed information. The designated staff member will not require any accounting skills.

Does my business need to be in Utah to work with you?

No! We work with businesses all over the United States. From sea to shinning sea including Hawaii and Alaska. We do not however serve businesses that are not based in the U.S.

How long does it take to get started?

We will design a custom onboarding calendar outlining the onboarding process and when to expect milestones. Typically depending on the complexity of your business and level of clean up work required, the average is 4-6 weeks in total to be fully up and running.

Tax Solutions

Does Wasatch Accounting help Individual tax filers or just businesses?

Yes! We do assist individual taxpayers with tax filing. Although we have a limited number of individual return slots available and once they are full for the season,we do not accept new clients. Our minimum fee for “simple” returns is $225. Your amount may be more depending on your tax profile.

Can you help with foreign tax issues and questions?

We do not. Tax laws are already complex and ever changing. Foreign tax considerations are an extra layer of complexity that requires specialized focus. We focus solely on domestic tax issues and recommend you seek a firm specializing in foreign taxes.

I haven’t filed my taxes since 2019, can Wasatch Accounting help me?

Yes! We can help you get caught up and back on track with your taxes! We do the tax preparation only however. We do not do tax resolution work if you owe a large sum and want help negotiating with the IRS.

I owe a large amount to the IRS, can you help me with this?

We do NOT do tax resolution work. This kind of work is best handled by a firm that specializes in tax resolution. If you just need to set up a payment plan with the IRS we will direct you to the resources on the IRS website to set that up yourself. We prepare taxes and will help current clients, both individuals and businesses with audits.

I received an audit notice from the IRS (or state), can you help me?

Yes! We will help current tax and accounting clients with audits and notices from tax agencies.
